The Field Manual.
Six Rooms.

Everything on this site, bound. The six rooms and their kits. 38 objects with their inheritance dossiers: how to use them, repair them, and how long they should last. The rulings. The philosophy.

Written by a father for a son. Printed to be handed down.

Reserving costs nothing. You are charged when it prints, and the edition can be changed until then.

The QuarterMaster field cabinet: durable objects arranged on a dark shelf.
The cabinet, on paper.

What's inside

Four parts, one standard.

Part I

6 rooms

Work Dinner · First Date · Wedding Guest · Rainy Weekend · Home Bar · Coffee With Friends. Each room states the question, the promise, the answer, and the kit by lane, with the swaps for weather, stakes, and budget.

Part II

38 inheritance dossiers

Shoes, watches, outerwear, knitwear. What each object is for, the standard it must meet, what to avoid, expected lifespan, the repair path, and an honest cost line.

Part III

The first dated ruling

Every position QuarterMaster has published to date, with the physical reason and the evidence, and every ruling issued before the print date. When a ruling changes, the book says when and why.

Part IV

The philosophy

Start with the room. Prefer the repair path. Make restraint visible. Publish the change. Plus the S-through-D grading instrument and the five tests behind every letter.

Why a book

A site can be edited. A book has to be right.

The web edition will keep moving: rulings get dated, objects get re-graded, rooms get swaps. The bound edition is the standard as it stood at the first printing, with the reasoning in full. It is the version you can hand to someone without a link.
